Privacy policy
The App is operated by Proxima S.r.l. (“we”, “us”). It lets Shopify merchants view, edit and automatically translate the translatable content of their store. This policy explains what data the App processes when a merchant installs it, why, where it is kept and how it can be deleted. Contact: adileob@gmail.com.
1. Who the data belongs to
The App is installed by merchants (Shopify store owners and staff). We process data on behalf of the merchant to provide the service. The merchant remains the controller of their store content; we act as a processor for that content and as a controller for the account and billing information described below.
2. Data we collect and why
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Store domain (myshopify.com) and the access token Shopify issues to the App | Authenticate the App with your store and call the Shopify Admin API on your behalf | Until the App is uninstalled |
| Translatable store content (product, collection, page, blog, menu, metafield, metaobject, theme and settings strings) and their translations | Display them in the editor and save the translations you make back to Shopify | Cached on our servers for 2 hours after loading, then deleted automatically |
| Unsaved edits | Keep your work if you close the browser before saving | Stored only in your browser (local storage), never sent to us until you save to Shopify |
| App settings: chosen AI provider, model, translation guidelines, glossary, and, if you provide one, your own LLM API key | Run automatic translation the way you configured it | Until the App is uninstalled or you remove them |
| AI translation cache (source text, target language, translated text) | Avoid translating the same string twice | 2 hours, then deleted automatically |
| Token usage counters per store and month | Apply the monthly budget included in paid plans | Until the App is uninstalled |
| Subscription status | Know which plan the store is on. Managed and billed by Shopify; we only read it | Read on demand, not stored beyond a one-minute cache |
| Technical logs (request time, route, errors) | Keep the service running and diagnose problems | Up to 30 days on our hosting provider |
3. Data we do not collect
The App does not request access to customers, orders, payments or analytics. It only reads translatable content and the store’s languages and markets. It does not use tracking cookies or advertising identifiers. The content you translate may occasionally include personal data you placed there (for example a name in a page); we treat it as store content and do not analyse it for any other purpose.
4. Automatic translation and AI providers
When you use automatic translation, the text to translate, your guidelines and glossary are sent to a large language model provider. HTML tags are removed before sending and restored afterwards. The provider depends on your choice:
- Your own API key: the text is sent directly to the provider you configured (MiniMax, OpenAI, Anthropic or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) under that provider’s terms. Your key is stored on our server to make those requests and is never shown in the browser after you save it.
- Included token budget: the text is sent to MiniMax (MiniMax International Ltd.) using our account. We do not send your store domain or any identifier of your store with the text.
Translated results are cached for 2 hours and then deleted.
5. Where data is processed
- Application hosting: Vercel Inc., serverless functions in the European Union (Frankfurt region) with a global CDN in front.
- Database: a PostgreSQL server operated by us in the European Union (Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany).
- Shopify Inc., which provides the store data through its Admin API and handles billing.
- The AI provider described in section 4, only while an automatic translation is running.
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access to our database and hosting accounts is restricted to the people who operate the App.
6. Deletion
Uninstalling the App from your Shopify admin removes the access token immediately. Shopify then sends us the mandatory shop/redact request 48 hours after uninstall, on which we delete every record associated with the store: settings, API key, glossary, usage counters and any cached content. Cached strings and translations expire on their own after 2 hours in any case. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time by writing to adileob@gmail.com.
Because the App does not store customer data, the Shopify customers/data_request and customers/redact requests are acknowledged without any data to return or erase.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of the data we hold about your store, object to or restrict its processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. Write to adileob@gmail.com; we answer within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Changes
We may update this policy when the App changes. The effective date at the top tells you which version applies; material changes are announced inside the App.
